  • National security officers search kidswear shop

Police from the national security department descended on a children's clothing shop in Tsuen Wan for investigation on Thursday.

Officers were seen cordoning off the Chickeeduck store at Heung Shing Street at around 5pm and searched the premises for nearly an hour.

The store, known for displaying a statue of a female protester dubbed "Lady Liberty" by its entrance, just began operations on Tuesday.

"[The police] were carrying a search warrant from court, without giving any reason, to search a shop that hasn't violated any laws," the owner of the chain, Herbert Chow, told reporters after the search.

"[The officer said] I don't have to answer your questions," he said, adding that he was warned over products that are in breach of the national security law.

Chow noted that the officers left without taking away anything.

"I don't understand this law," he said. "At least you should tell me if my products are fine and if I can continue operating the store?"

"You want to leave behind some form of white terror? Sorry, I ignore white terror, I'm not afraid," he added.

The force said officers entered the store with a court warrant after receiving a complaint that a shop was suspected of violating the national security law.

No one was arrested.
