Both the national and regional emblems will be present in the Legislative Council chamber in the new Legco term.
The Legco Commission said it has decided to hang both emblems in the chamber. Work will be completed by January 12 in time for the first council meeting of this term.
In simulation provided by the Legco Secretariat, the national emblem is seen right above the SAR emblem.
The Legco Secretariat said the decision to hang both emblems was made after three ex-officio Legco Commission members of the legislature's previous term – Andrew Leung, Starry Lee and Ma Fung-kwok – consulted with the relevant parties involved.
The national emblem was hung in the chamber when 90 lawmakers of the seventh term of Legco were sworn in on Monday, in accordance with the National Flag and National Emblem Ordinance.
