The MTR says train services on all MTR lines, except the Airport Express, will end at 10 pm on Sunday as its maintenance teams continue to repair station equipment vandalised by anti-government protesters.

The rail operator said there was a higher risk of damage during the weekends and the decision to close at that time had been taken in conjunction with the government. MTR stations closed at 11 pm last Friday and at 10 pm on Saturday. Under normal conditions, they close at around 1 am.

Protesters have been targeting MTR stations because they say the company has sided with the government.

The Airport Express will run normally until 2 pm. Thereafter, it will only stop at Hong Kong Station and Airport Station.

Officials have repeatedly denied that the early closing of stations is a de facto curfew.
