Transport services remained limited early on Wednesday, but the MTR Corporation said it would start resuming services gradually after checking the condition of tracks.
During Typhoon Higos, it maintained limited services in 15-minute intervals wherever possible on its underground sections, and said that it would only resume services on open sections gradually after checking the tracks.
Bus and tram services remain suspended. All ferry services are also suspended.
The Hong Kong Observatory lowered the alert to Signal Number Eight at 7.40am on Wednesday, as Typhoon Higos moved away from Hong Kong.
The observatory is expected to issue the Signal Number 3 between 11am and 1pm when the territory is no longer generally affected by gale force winds.
