The MTR on Sunday said it had made good progress repairing stations vandalised by anti-government protesters and that stations would close later during weekdays this week.
In a statement, it said - following a risk assessment with the government - train services, except for the Airport Express, will end at 11.30 pm between Monday, November 4 and Friday, November 8. But the rail operator said the risk level was higher at the weekend and, as a result, train services would end at 10 pm next Saturday and Sunday.
The MTR also said these service hours could change if stations are damaged again, or the risk level rises.
Under normal conditions, MTR stations close at about 1 am.
The company has been targeted by protesters because they claim it has sided with the government.
