The MTR Corporation said on Monday that it had suspended the Airport Express. The in-town check-in service has also been suspended.

It said it made the decision due to "public activities" in Central, an apparent reference to a rally supporting a US bill which would introduce sanctions for Hong Kong officials who undermine people's rights in the SAR.

The MTR's train, light rail and bus services all ended early on Monday night so staff could repair vandalism, and the company warned that services might also end early on Tuesday.
