  • Mother arrested over death of her son, 21

Police have arrested a 46-year-old woman in Kwai Chung on Saturday in connection with the death of her 21-year-old son.

An assistant divisional commander, Lam Chi-yuen, said the man was mentally challenged and just moved back in with the family from a care home.

He said the victim was allegedly strangled to death with a rubbish bag or plastic table cloth that had been rolled into a string.

The officer said three other family members were in the public housing flat when the attack took place early on Saturday morning.

Police said the mother tried to commit suicide and suffered injuries to her hand, and has been taken to hospital.
