A young man has been declared dead after being found unconscious on the street in Tsuen Wan on Wednesday night after an apparent fall.
The black-clad man aged about 20 was taken to Yan Chai Hospital after being found at about 10.30pm near the Kerry Warehouse in Shing Yiu Street. It appears he fell from height, although it was not clear what caused his fall.
Several other injuries were reported on a day of increasingly violent clashes involving protesters, police and pro-government groups.
The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said in a statement in the early hours of Thursday that one of its outsourced workers had been hit in the head by a hard object suspected to have been thrown by a "thug" during his lunch break on Wednesday.
It was not clear what condition the person was in. The department said his family had been informed and it hoped the police would catch the person responsible.
It did not provide further details, but multiple media reports said a 70-year-old man had been hit in the head with a brick in clashes between anti-government demonstrators and a pro-government group in Sheung Shui at lunchtime.
