Police said on Tuesday they had arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of murder and wounding following a knife attack at Tseung Kwan O MTR Station.

The victim, a 34-year-old security guard, was believed to have been carrying out maintenance work on a cash machine at the station when he was slashed.

Videos shared online showed the victim lying in a pool of blood next to a row of Hang Seng Bank ATMs. He was declared dead after being taken to hospital.

A 42-year-old man and a 24-year-old man were also assaulted by the man when they attempted to stop him.

The suspect was subdued outside the station. He was a former colleague of the man who died.

Police found a 12-inch fruit knife near the scene of the attack.

They said they believed the case to be related to a personal dispute.

In a statement, Hang Seng Bank said no money had been lost in the attack on the security guard. The bank said it would like to extend its deepest condolences to the victim's family.
