Police have arrested a 24-year-old man after an 89-year-old woman died when a private car reportedly reversed over her in Tuen Mun early on Monday morning.

The man, who was allegedly driving the car, fled the scene of the accident in Leung Tin Tseun.

He was arrested later for dangerous driving causing death, failing to stop after an accident, and failing to report an accident.

Police say he remains in detention.
