A man appeared in Kwun Tong Court on Monday charged with four incitement offences linked to activities on a Telegram channel.
The court heard that there were over a thousand messages on the channel that talked about how to make petrol bombs, incited people to obstruct railways, and called for people to kill police officers.
The defendant, 32, is accused of inciting Telegram users on November, 12, 13 and 18 to assault people, and on December 9 of inciting people to cause a public nuisance.
But the defence lawyer said his client was only sharing the messages as an administrator of the channel, and it didn't mean he had any intention of hurting others or causing a public nuisance
No plea was taken and the case was adjourned until May 25.
The defendant was remanded into custody after his application for bail was denied.
