The chairman of the government's Task Force on Land Supply, Stanley Wong, has pointed out that a quota that allows 150 mainlanders to settle in Hong Kong per day is not within the scope of the consultation. Speaking to reporters after attending RTHK's City Forum, he said, even if the policy were scrapped, it wouldn't affect it. He was responding to suggestions that scrapping the quota would solve the land shortage problem.

Wong said the consultation was about trying to communicate with as many people as possible:

The Development Secretary, Michael Wong, also responded to the question of the quota on his blog. He said scrapping the policy would affect family reunions
