The government on Monday said the team of epidemiological experts from the mainland, who are currently on a visit to Hong Kong, would extend its stay in the SAR for a week until next Monday.
The delegation arrived in the city last Thursday originally for a five-day visit.
The government said the experts would support the investigation work of the SAR's health authorities over the next few days.
Health Secretary, Sophia Chan, said she was grateful for the extended stay.
She also said the SAR government would leverage the central government's experience and guidance in fighting the epidemic, and fully utilise its resources and manpower support.
