  • Localist groups bemoan daily influx of mainlanders

Around 20 localist groups on Sunday held a march in Mong Kok against the one-way permit system, which allows up to 150 mainlanders to settle in the city every day.

They said the new immigrants are putting a strain on the territory's public health care system and demanded the government reduce the quota.

The protesters also said the government must have a say on who can come in.

The government has said the system is for family reunions, but the protesters say they should reunite in the Greater Bay Area instead.

Some protesters carried cooking pots to symbolise that the health care system has exploded.
