Hong Kong Post announced on Saturday that it will suspend local parcel and local courier post services from Monday until further notice, in light of the severe Covid situation.
In a statement, the department said it wants to focus resources on maintaining essential postal services for the public.
“Hong Kong Post apologises for the inconvenience caused by the above adjustment of postal services and looks to the understanding of members of the public,” it said.
The department added that it will enhance the provision of protective measures for its staff, and implement infection-control and social distancing measures at all postal facilities.
Various post offices around town have experienced temporary closures since the fifth wave erupted, after some staff tested positive for Covid.
