Outspoken pro-government lawmaker Junius Ho was thrown out of a Legco meeting on Tuesday after making a crude remark with a sexual innuendo targeting Council Front lawmaker Claudia Mo.

The unusual event of a pro-Beijing lawmaker being expelled happened when the house committee was discussing the procedures for electing a chairman and vice-chairman.

During the discussion, Ho was talking about the procedures, when Mo made an objection.

Dennis Kwok who was presiding over the meeting then asked Ho to respond to the objection.

Ho then directed the crude remark, generally deemed offensive in Cantonese, towards Mo and left the meeting room.

This enraged the pan-dems and Kwok, who agreed the remark was offensive, suspended the meeting for a while to wait for Ho to come back.

On his return, Kwok asked Ho to withdraw the remark and apologise, but the lawmaker refused, saying he was only exercising his freedom of speech.

Kwok then kicked Ho out of the meeting.

Mo said she would follow up the matter with Legco officials as well as the Law Society and the Equal Opportunities Commission.
