Democratic Party lawmaker Lam Cheuk-ting on Wednesday urged police to allow lawmakers access to areas of the Legislative Council that were left unscathed by protesters who stormed into the complex on Monday night.
Lam said his party's office on the ninth floor, for example, did not appear to have been broken into by protesters who were upset at the government's refusal to respond to their demands, including the withdrawal its controversial extradition bill and a probe into police action on June 12.
"There were some floors that were not entered by protesters and there was no damage at all," Lam said.
He called on the police to reopen those parts of Legco that were left untouched by protesters, to minimise the impact on lawmakers' work.
Lam said he and his assistant were only able to enter the Legco complex for a short while to retrieve some items.
Legco has been cordoned off as a crime scene.
On their social media pages, the police have said officers of the Organised Crime and Triad Bureau, Identification Bureau and government chemists are collecting evidence from Legco.
Meanwhile, former student activist Joshua Wong said he was again barred from going into Legco in his capacity as Council Front lawmaker Au Nok-hin's assistant.
Wong called the move unreasonable, adding that he fears officers may enter lawmakers' offices without their approval and confiscate their computers for evidence gathering.
