Liberal Party leader, Felix Chung, says it would be unhealthy for Hong Kong to have no opposition voices in Legco.
Chung made the comment following media reports that Beijing might interpret and deliver a ruling on Wednesday on the Basic Law, following rumours it wants to oust at least four pro-democracy lawmakers. It would be the second interpretation since 2016.
The rest of the pan-democrats in Legco have vowed to resign en masse if any of them are unseated.
"That is not healthy to the Hong Kong Legco at all," Chung said. "Everywhere in the world the government always has opposition voices. If they all leave, I don't know what will happen to Hong Kong."
Chung said the lack of an opposition might also attract US and international attention towards Hong Kong.
