    Labour Department probes fatal work accident

The Labour Department said it's "highly concerned" about a fatal work accident at a construction site at the West Kowloon Cultural District on Monday afternoon in which a male worker was trapped while repairing a crane. He was certified dead later in hospital.

A Labour Department spokesman said it had started an on-site investigation, and had issued suspension notices to the contractors concerned".

"We will complete investigation as soon as possible to identify the cause of the accident, ascertain the liability of the duty holders and recommend improvement measures. We will take actions pursuant to the law if there is any violation of the work safety legislation," the spokesman said in a statement.
