  • 'Keep your face mask on at home as well'

A health expert from the University of Hong Kong on Sunday urged people to keep their face masks on throughout the day, even when they're at home, to help prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Public health professor Lam Tai-hing says even people living on their own need to be careful, because if they don't keep their mask on, their coughing could potentially deposit the virus on their furniture and in turn infect their cleaners.

Lam - HKU's Chair of Community Medicine - added that the public's awareness of food hygiene must be boosted.
