Pro-democracy activist Joshua Wong told the Small Claims Tribunal on Thursday that he was handcuffed without any prior warning and dragged into a police van last summer, even though he didn't struggle at all.
The Demosisto leader is seeking HK$45,000 in compensation from the police over the way he was treated as he made his way to last year's July 1 rally.
The incident happened during rowdy scenes outside an MTR station, although the activist wasn't arrested for anything.
A police sergeant told the tribunal that Wong was not behaving in a calm manner and the handcuffs were to make sure he didn't struggle in the van.
The case is continuing.
