A number of International schools in Hong Kong resumed classes on Wednesday with stepped-up disinfection and public hygiene measures after they were closed for months amid the Covid-19 outbreak.
Students and staff entering Malvern College in Tai Po were required to wear masks, have their body temperature checked and to disinfect their hands upon entering campus.
The school's founding headmaster Robin Lister said that students who record a high body temperature will be placed in a room to wait to have their temperature checked again. If they are found to have a fever, parents will be required to pick them up and take them home.
Lister also confirmed that classes will only run for half days ending at 1pm with no lunch break, and that there will be a distance of 1 to 1.5 metres between classroom seats.
He also reminded students to wash their hands frequently, and disinfectant dispensers will be placed around campus.
A parent surnamed Chan said she wasn't too worried about the possibility of her children getting infected at school, saying that she believed the authorities have been thorough with their health risk assessment.
She also said her children were eager to go back to school, and that they have brought disinfectant hand rubs to school with them just in case.
