The lawyers for a journalist who was blinded in one eye during a police clearance last month said on Saturday that they will file papers in the High Court to ask the commissioner to reveal the identity of the officer who was responsible for the injury.

The legal team of Indonesian reporter Veby Mega Indah also accused the authorities of dragging their feet in dealing with a criminal complaint over the matter.

Vidler & Co Solicitors said in a posting on Facebook that police have not arrested or suspended the officer suspected of firing towards Indah even though it has been two weeks since the complaint was lodged.

"We shall also be seeking declarations from the court that the failure of the commissioner to suspend the officer and investigate him, are unlawful," the message said.

The lawyers said Indah, who works for an Indonesian-language Hong Kong publication, will be undergoing another surgery to reduce pressure from liquids that have recently built up within her right eye.

The lawyers' statement also included a message from Indah who expressed her gratefulness for the prayers and expressions of support that she had received from the people of Hong Kong and Indonesia.
