Health officials on Wednesday said a furniture delivery man was one of the latest confirmed Covid-19 cases, and about a dozen customers whose homes he visited had to be put under quarantine.
Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan of the Centre for Health Protection said the 55-year-old man developed muscle pain on Wednesday last week but continued to work.
“During this period, he sent goods and assembled furniture in quite a number of places, many of which he and his colleagues stayed for more than 15 minutes,” she said.
“Although all of them have worn masks, this is a home setting and usually the space would not be very big. We’re afraid that if he’s transmissible, sometimes there’s still a risk of transmission to people who came into contact with him,” Chuang said.
The source of his infection could not be ascertained.
The man is one of four locally acquired infections reported on Wednesday, all three others were linked to previous cases.
There were six imported cases, including five people who flew in from India and one from Pakistan.
