The Chief Executive, Carrie Lam, says she will try her best to deliver her annual policy address in person at the Legislative Council chamber on Wednesday.
There is growing speculation that she may announce this year's blueprint via a pre-recorded video to avoid any protesters who try to block her from entering the Legco complex.
But speaking to reporters ahead of the Executive Council meeting on Tuesday, Lam said she hopes to stick to the annual tradition of personally presenting the address to lawmakers.
She also said that despite the problems her administration is facing, it has managed to come up with around 200 new initiatives for Wednesday’s policy address – many of which are aimed at tackling the territory’s housing shortage.
Lam added that there will be a new ‘supplement’ section in her policy address, which will highlight what her administration has achieved over the past two years.
“I am happy to say that we have announced some 500 initiatives in the last two policy addresses and the achievement rate is close to 97 percent… and then we will present some of the challenges that we are facing”, she said.
The Chief Executive said the cover of her policy address will once again be sky blue – like it had been in the previous two years – to reflect her wish for Hong Kong to start afresh.
