Over a hundred protesters gathered at New Town Plaza in Sha Tin on Saturday to attend a "mask party" to demonstrate against the government’s anti-mask law.
The participants – many of them wearing masks – chanted slogans like "wearing masks aren't illegal" and "I have every right to wear a mask". They also sang anti-extradition anthem 'Glory to Hong Kong'.
One of the demonstrators, university student Justin, was wearing a Guy Fawkes mask.
“The mask represents Vendetta so it is a symbol of being a fight [against] autocratic leadership”, he said.
A number of shops and eateries that have previously been targeted by protesters for being pro-government have closed ahead of the “party”.
