Health authorities on Wednesday reported no new Covid-19 infections and fewer than five preliminary positive cases.
Authorities also said they are investigating a re-positive overseas case involving a 61-year-old man who lives in Kimberley Hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui.
The fully vaccinated man arrived in Hong Kong from Ghana on November 16 via Qatar and tested negative for the coronavirus at the airport and in four subsequent tests during quarantine at a designated hotel.
After completing his quarantine, he tested positive for the first time on Monday and was found to be carrying the L452R mutant strain with a low viral load.
The Centre for Health Protection said investigation shows that the man had contracted Covid-19 in Ghana in September.
It said it is following up on the case with Ghana health authorities and has issued compulsory testing orders to places the patient had stayed or visited.
