A 40-day-old baby has initially tested positive for the coronavirus, sources told RTHK on Wednesday.

The boy is being treated at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

If the diagnoses is confirmed, it will make the baby the youngest coronavirus patient in Hong Kong.

It is understood that a family friend who recently tested positive for the virus had been in contact with the baby.

Only around 30 under 18s are among Hong Kong's 714 confirmed Covid-19 infections to date, with the youngest of them two one-year-olds, a four-year-old girl and a seven-year-old boy.
