  • HK sees small rise in new Covid infections

Hong Kong added 1,433 new locally transmitted Covid infections on Tuesday, 26 cases more than the previous day.

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) said 735 of the infections were confirmed via PCR tests and 698 were reported by people taking rapid antigen tests.

There were also 13 imported cases.

Health authorities also revised up the number of infections detected through a mass self-testing exercise from Friday to Sunday, to 3,128.

Meanwhile, health officials reported 59 additional deaths, including 52 at public hospitals in the past day.

The total number of fatalities in the Omicron-driven outbreak now stands at 8,673.
