  • HK sees 2,945 Covid cases, official calls for caution

Health Secretary Lo Chung-mau has called on people not to let their guard down amid a rising Covid trend.

The city reported 2,945 new Covid cases on Friday, slightly down from more than 3,000 the day before.

All but 197 were local infections.

There were three more Covid-related deaths.

In a daily Covid briefing, Lo said the daily caseload could double in two weeks, and the goal now is to reverse the trend of rising infections.

"This is the prediction based on the trend in the last few weeks, but I think we are here to shape the future," he said.

"We will have to carry out more vigilant and more precise testing and more vigilant isolation for all those infected, using including home isolation and specific isolation facilities to make sure that those infected are not walking around in our community and causing outbreaks."
