  • HK's daily Covid cases drop to one-month low

Hong Kong’s daily coronavirus cases on Friday dropped to a one-month low of 10,405.

Among them, 4,578 were confirmed by PCR tests in laboratories, while 5,827 people reported positive rapid test results via an online platform.

Albert Au of the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) said officials have been carrying out random sampling of people who tested positive for the virus in rapid tests.

He said less than one percent tested negative in subsequent PCR tests.

The Hospital Authority (HA) said 162 Covid patients had died over the past day. Most of them were aged above 65, while half were residents of care homes.

Also reported were 30 deaths that occurred earlier.

More than 1.09 million people have been confirmed with Covid and a total of 6,749 people have died in the latest wave of infections. The CHP said the fatality rate is 0.61 per cent.

The HA announced that recovered Covid patients are allowed 10 free-of-charge consultations with Chinese medicine doctors at its clinics.
