  • HK reports new Covid outbreak linked to nightclub

Health authorities on Friday said there had been a Covid outbreak at another nightclub in Central.

Fourteen people who visited Shuffle in Lan Kwai Fong on Saturday have since contracted the coronavirus.

They are aged between 21 and 32.

One of them had been to another nightclub, Zentral, where an outbreak was reported last week.

This comes as the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) reported 499 new Covid cases, 49 of which were imported.

Separately Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan of the CHP said officials had verified more than 200 self-reported positive rapid tests it received on Tuesday and found that a quarter of them did not have Covid.

"We have referred six cases to the police for follow-up and three of them have been arrested," she said.

The government has urged people not to report fake, or past, infections to try to get an exemption from its vaccine pass scheme.
