Hong Kong on Monday reported its eighth fatality connected to the Covid-19 outbreak.

A 95-year-old woman passed away at Eastern Hospital at about 6:30pm.

The woman was a resident of an elderly care home in Tsz Wan Shan at the centre of an ongoing outbreak.

The woman, who suffered from chronic diseases, was admitted to the hospital last Friday and did not show any symptoms at the time.

But her condition had taken a turn a turn for the worse on Saturday and she had to be given oxygen and drug therapy.

Eastern Hospital expressed condolences to the woman's family and promised to offer them assistance, if necessary.
