Health authorities reported that no local coronavirus infections were reported in the city on Saturday and the lone Covid-19 case recorded was a cargo plane crew who flew in from Bahrain.
This brings the total number of cases recorded in the city so far to 5,059.
The Centre for Health Protection said the latest case was a 48-year-old male and cargo plane crew member who arrived in Hong Kong from Bahrain on September 24 and tested positive at the airport. The man had onset of symptoms from September 21.
Two crew members on the same plane have been listed as close contacts and placed in quarantine.
It's the first time in 11 days – and the second time in one month – that Hong Kong has reported no locally-confirmed coronavirus cases.
The news comes after Chief Executive Carrie Lam declared on Friday that the city's third wave of coronavirus infections was under control, but warned of the threat of infections with unknown sources.
In an article posted on social media, she said the government is using this time to relax more social distancing measures, but reminded people not to drop their guard saying that a fourth wave of infections is likely this winter.
