Hong Kong is expected to report more than 1,500 new Covid cases on Monday, sources have told RTHK.

It would mark the fourth consecutive day that the number of local infections exceed the 1,000 mark.

As the number of cases continue to soar, health officials have appealed to patients with mild or no symptoms to calmly wait at home before they are taken to hospitals or isolation facilities.

Authorities said they would prioritise hospitalising the elderly, the children and those in serious condition as the Omicron outbreak puts immense pressure on the city’s medical system.
