Hong Kong health authorities confirmed one more case of Covid-19 on Sunday – a woman who returned to Hong Kong from the Philippines the day before.
The 25-year-old did not have any symptoms, but her sample came back positive when she was tested at AsiaWorld Expo upon her return, and was taken straight to Princess Margaret Hospital for isolation and treatment.
The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) also said tests of almost 1,400 residents of a Sha Tin public housing block that was partially evacuated earlier this week, have all come back negative.
Seven residents of the building at Lek Yuen Estate have been confirmed with Covid-19 so far – and officials have decided to evacuate around 100 residents from specific flats as a precaution, for fear that the virus could be spreading through the sewerage system.
All residents of the block have been asked to give saliva samples to the authorities, and only three households have yet to get in contact with health officials.
A CHP spokesman said nine samples have to be collected again because of ‘leakage’.
Hong Kong has confirmed 1,106 cases of Covid-19 so far, with four fatalities.
