The Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China said on Tuesday afternoon that a dispute with the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department involving stalls at the upcoming Lunar New Year flower market at Victoria Park has been resolved, and a deal will be signed later in the day.

On Tuesday morning, the alliance won bids for three of the 60 flower booths on offer in an auction, but was told that the department needed to reconsider the bids before an agreement would be finalised. The alliance said it was asked to attend a meeting with the department on Wednesday.

The alliance successfully won bids for the three stalls at HK$5,440 each.

Its vice-chairman, Richard Tsoi, said he has since been notified by officials that they'd verified relevant information and accepted the winning bids. A deal is expected to be signed on Tuesday afternoon.

The group has had a regular presence at the flower market at Victoria Park, having set up booths there for the past 30 years and sold items carrying political messages. The alliance is best known for advocating the vindication of the pro-democracy movement on the mainland in 1989 leading up to the Tiananmen massacre.
