A Chinese University graduate has reportedly been arrested over his participation in an anti-government protest at the institution's campus in Sha Tin last month.

A post on Arthur Yeung's Facebook page said that police officers arrested him at his home on Monday morning and that he was taken to a police station shortly afterwards.

"8:30 Arthur Yeung was taken to Ma On Shan Police Station. Arthur Yeung was arrested at home at 7am, suspected to be related to the Chinese University graduate ceremony protest on 19 November. Officers are searching the flat," said the Facebook message.

Dozens of people wearing black graduation gowns and face masks had joined the protest in response to calls online for a rally after the university shifted its graduation ceremony online.

During the march, some protesters held up banners and signs with slogans including "This revolution was ultimately won by no one, but please stay with us to witness it", "Liberate Hong Kong, Revolution of Our Times", as well as others calling for Hong Kong independence.

The university made a report to the police and the case was handled by the force's national security department which sent around a dozen officers to the campus on November 20 in an apparent search for evidence.

Yeung ran in the district council elections last year but failed to win a seat.
