A government spokesperson on Sunday said that after the peaceful and orderly protest in Sha Tin on Sunday afternoon, some protesters had deliberately blocked roads, violently assaulted police officers and caused a breach of the peace.

The government said it strongly condemns these illegal acts.

The spokesperson added that the rule of law is the cornerstone of Hong Kong, and society will absolutely not tolerate such violent acts.
