Germany has warned its citizens in Hong Kong to be careful about making political comments on social media, in wake of the new security law that has been imposed in the SAR.
In a statement, the German foreign ministry said it could not completely rule out German citizens in Hong Kong being affected by the law.
The law passed by Beijing targets acts of secession, subversion, terrorism and collusion with foreign countries to endanger national security.
The embassy pointed out that some definitions in the law are not clear and also applies to foreigners overseas.
It also warned of further protests and clashes in Hong Kong and urged citizens to follow the advice of local security forces.
This comes after countries like the US, Britain and Canada took steps like initiating new steps or revoking existing pacts and issuing travel alerts heading to Hong Kong.
