Hygiene officials say fresh pork will be available at local markets as early as Monday, as two slaughterhouses will soon reopen after being disinfected.
The Tsuen Wan and Sheung Shui slaughterhouses have been closed for around a week, after African swine fever was found in a pig imported from the mainland.
The Environmental Hygiene Department says disinfection work has been completed at the Tsuen Wan slaughterhouse on Saturday and it will resume operation by Monday.
The Sheung Shui slaughterhouse has also been cleaned and can reopen.
