Health officials have confirmed that four staff members at Princess Margaret Hospital are among 80 people who have tested preliminary positive for Covid-19.
Dr Sara Ho, a chief manager for the Hospital Authority, said investigations are still ongoing as to whether the transmission happened inside the hospital facility.
Ho said three of the four staff work at the hospital's rehabilitation ward as personal care assistants, where their responsibilities were taking care of patients, while the fourth works at the hospital's oncology department, where their responsibilities included helping patients measure their blood pressure.
One of the workers had stayed overnight at the hospital's hostel with other staff.
At least 16 people who had stayed in the hostel or shared meals with two of the four have been identified as close contacts and been sent to quarantine camps.
No hospital patients have been listed as close contacts, and the ward in question has stopped taking in patients and is monitoring the health of its patients and staff in light of the news.
Ho confirmed that the oncology department has been disinfected.
