Local football fans said on Saturday that they were excited to finally be able to watch matches inside a stadium after a ten-month live-audience ban due to the coronavirus pandemic was lifted.
At Yuen Long Stadium, spectators filled in health declaration forms and had their temperatures checked before they entered to watch a fixture between Resources Capital and Southern District in the group stage of the Sapling Cup.
Some of the seats have been sealed off for social distancing, and no more than four people could sit together in the same row.
One of the fans said it was worth the hassle because he had waited for the ban to be relaxed a long time.
“I could only watch the matches online in the past months. The atmosphere was not as good. The anti-epidemic measures here are adequate to ensure safety,” he said.
Another fan said he hoped more people would buy tickets and watch the games to support Hong Kong football.
