Police have appealed for witnesses to a fatal traffic accident in Ta Kwu Ling late on Saturday in which a 35-year-old motorist died.

In a statement, they said that at 10.38pm the man was driving a car along Ping Che Road towards Sha Tau Kok Road, but apparently lost control, rammed the railings before careering down a slope.

They said the driver was trapped inside, and was rescued by firemen, and taken to North District Hospital with multiple injuries, where he was certified dead at 11.42pm.

A 60-year-old passenger was also taken to North District Hospital.
