Commerce and Economic Development Secretary Edward Yau said the government has gained a lot of experience after spending half a year on its review on RTHK.
Yau, whose bureau oversees the government broadcaster, was speaking at the Legco panel on information technology and broadcasting on Monday.
He said RTHK’s role as a government department and public broadcaster will remain unchanged.
Lawmakers, meanwhile, praised recent RTHK programmes and Director of Broadcasting Patrick Li.
New People’s Party chairwoman Regina Ip said Li has won praise since he took the job earlier this year, and that other government departments should look for officials like him.
