People have begun taking advantage of expanded walk-in inoculations at Hong Kong’s 21 community vaccination centres on Wednesday.
Anyone wanting a Covid-19 jab can collect a same-day ticket from 7:45am each morning and no longer need to go online to make advanced bookings.
Some people told RTHK that they found the arrangement very convenient, especially for those who don't know how to make appointments online.
One student also seized the opportunity to get his first dose in Lai Chi Kok, saying he wanted to get vaccinated in time for his school’s sports day.
Others, who’ve made prior bookings for their second jab, also said things went smoothly and they hadn't seen a sharp increase in the number of people taking the shots.
The government announced last week that it would expand the walk-in vaccination service in a bid to boost the local vaccine take-up rate.
The move came after Chief Executive Carrie Lam said earlier this month that the number of people taking the coronavirus jabs recently had dropped to a “worrying” level.
