Li Ping-wah talks to RTHK's Jimmy Choi

More rain is expected over Hong Kong on Friday morning as Tropical Storm Ewiniar inches its way across the sea.

The Hong Kong Obervatory said on Thursday that the Number 3 signal was bound to stay up for most of the day, but advised the public to listen to the latest weather bulletins before they head out for school or work on Friday morning.

Senior Scientific Officer Li Ping-wah at the observatory said it was difficult to predict the storm's behaviour as it travels across the water.

"Therefore we would like to advise the general public to stay tuned to the latest weather forecast tomorrow morning before leaving for school or work," he said.

Li said the unsettled weather is expected to continue into Saturday. The sky should be clear by the latter part of Sunday, he told RTHK's Jimmy Choi.

At 6pm, Ewiniar was about 280 kilometres away from Hong Kong, edging closer to the coast of western Guangdong at about 10 kilometres per hour.
