  • Duo who shadowed me were up to no good: lawmaker

  • Jeremy Tam's video ends with a man he confronted running away near Performing Arts Avenue in Admiralty.

Jeremy Tam's video ends with a man he confronted running away near Performing Arts Avenue in Admiralty.

Jeremy Tam speaks to RTHK's Candice Wong

Civic Party lawmaker Jeremy Tam said on Saturday that at least two men with "mainland Chinese accent" had shadowed him on previous night, adding that he was certain they had “no good intentions”.

The lawmaker had on Friday night uploaded a footage on his Facebook page which shows him confronting a stranger who was taking his picture.

In the video, the man is heard telling Tam "I don't know you...I didn't follow you" and is briefly joined by another person. The person Tam confronted suddenly takes to his heels and the footage ends with the lawmaker trying to chase him down.

Speaking to RTHK about the incident, Tam said he was followed by at least two men to a secluded spot in Admiralty as he came out of the Legco to get his bike.

The opposition lawmaker said he saw one of the men had taken photos of him near the government headquarters at around 7:30pm. Tam said the man deleted the photos after he confronted the person.

He said the second man who appears in his footage had joined them, apparently to help the person who was being questioned.

He said the stranger at first said it's ok to call the police, but as Tam started dialling the cops, the man suddenly turned around and fled.

Tam said though he wasn't physically hurt, he feels the men were not following him with any good intentions.

“What sort of tourist will come over and take photos of me,” he said. “When I look at his phone it is all my photos.”

He also told RTHK’s Candice Wong that he thinks there were more people with this duo and he feels this has been happening for a while.
