Police say a large number of officers will be deployed in Kowloon on Sunday in view of online calls for a demonstration in the area.
The force said in a Facebook post that some people had been persuading others on the internet to participate in the march, with some declaring they want to “rekindle the war” and “strike back”.
Messages circulating on online forums have called for a major rally in the Yau Tsim Mong area to oppose the new national security law as well as the government’s decision to postpone the Legislative Council elections.
But the police warned the public against taking part in the unauthorised march, saying they might violate the public order ordinance and social distancing rules.
It said officers will adopt a zero tolerance approach and take prosecution action "swiftly and resolutely".
