Notices have been put up on makeshift barricades that anti-government protesters had set up at the junction of Junction Road and Waterloo Road in Kowloon Tong, urging demonstrators to reopen part of the area for “humanitarian reasons”.
Areas around the Baptist Hospital have been completely cordoned off for a third day, meaning that vehicular and pedestrian access to these venues have been severely restricted.
The notices, put up by a self-proclaimed doctor at the private hospital, said the blockade has made it very difficult for patients to seek treatment. He added that blood supplies are running low as hospital vehicles have been unable to leave the facility to get fresh supplies.
The doctor added that it is very dangerous for protesters to place flammable items near the hospital, which is stocked with oxygen tanks, warning it may increase the risk of a major fire or even an explosion.
Meanwhile, Queen Elizabeth Hospital has also issued a statement, urging motorists to refrain from using the hospital’s driving lanes.
It noted that because roads around the hospital had been jammed, a lot of people have resorted to taking detours within the hospital. That, it said, had caused congestion within the hospital vicinity, affecting the movement of patients and medical supplies.
